Trump's White House Finally Admits the Roosevelt-Era East Wing Is Being Demolished, Despite Previous Promises From the President.
FDR expanded the East Wing in 1942 in the middle of World War II to strengthen America in its darkest hour.
It was built for service, not spectacle.
Trump is bulldozing it to throw himself a party—to build a gold-plated ballroom.
This demolition is nothing more than a monument to his ego, not the country he is supposed to serve.
I think if FDR were alive today, he would tell Trump that the White House is not his personal palace.
It belongs to every American.
And history will remember who honored its purpose and who destroyed it for a gaudy ballroom.

“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt
